It is used as an accelerator during phosphating; in the preparation of baths for hot-worked metals; as an additive to alkaline pickling baths for steel deposit removal and cast iron; aluminum and aluminum alloys; in neutral cleaning and inactivating baths;                                                                                              It is used in tank rinsers for the production of azo dyes, production of diazocompounds, production of nitrozo and isonitrozo compounds, stabilization of nitric acid gases, shipment and storage of butadiene.

Dyeing and printing diazotization; oxidation of printing and dyeing with colorless vat dyes; protection against reduction during printing and dyeing with certain vat dyes; used to induce accelerated oxidation of vat dyes that resist reoxidation.
